Rosa’s Handy Tips

Over the years I have picked up a few beauty tips and tricks for things around the house, mostly from my Mum, which I’d like to share with you here. I hope you find these ideas useful.

No more blisters or sore feet!

We have all at sometime bought new shoes which make our feet sore or give us blisters when we wear them for the first time. So here’s a good and simple remedy for this
problem that I have been using for a long time. This works for all kind of shoes, new and old. First put each shoe in a separate zip-lock food bag, close the bags and pop them
in the freezer.
Leave them there overnight and the following day put them on and wear them around the house for a half an hour or so. If they still feel a bit tight after that just repeat process
until they feel comfortable.

Now for the feet!

After a day of walking around Macau in the hot, humid weather your feet get tired and aching and I have found either of the following remedies very good for that. Dissolve ten drops of Lavender or Rosemary oil in a bowl of warm water and soak your feet for half an hour. Then massage them with a good moisturising cream. Instead you can soak them in a bowl of warm water with a handful of table salt again for about half an hour. Then dry your feet thoroughly and massage them with some talcum powder especially in between your toes. Now put on thin cotton socks for a while and feel the relief. Also to keep your feet fresh and odour free soak them in a bowl of hot water with two tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda. Then massage them with a solution of one tablespoon olive oil, one of sugar and one of peppermint essential oil.
